- I just purchased the Winmodem and have yet to upgrade it to 33.6. I
- understand that this modem does not have a flash bios so I assume this
- is a software upgrade. My question is; has anybody done this upgrade,
- and just how is this modem different from "others" that don't rely on
- Windows for their proper operation. (Offload work to the CPU? Software
- compression?)
-
- Just trying to undestand if maybe this modem wasn't such a good idea. I
- closely examined the boxes of the two different Sporster modems and the
- advertising made them appear to be almost identical except for the price
- and the fact that one relied on Windows.
-
- Any other opinions or experiences would be appreciated.
