  14. I just purchased the Winmodem and have yet to upgrade it to 33.6. I 
  15. understand that this modem does not have a flash bios so I assume this 
  16. is a software upgrade. My question is; has anybody done this upgrade, 
  17. and just how is this modem different from "others" that don't rely on 
  18. Windows for their proper operation. (Offload work to the CPU? Software 
  19. compression?)

  21. Just trying to undestand if maybe this modem wasn't such a good idea. I 
  22. closely examined the boxes of the two different Sporster modems and the 
  23. advertising made them appear to be almost identical except for the price 
  24. and the fact that one relied on Windows.

  26. Any other opinions or experiences would be appreciated.
